Before & After - Inspired by Esther Honig

A few weeks ago I discovered the project Before & After of the Journalist Esther Honig. I found it really interesting and wanted to give it a try.

Il y a quelques semaines j'ai découvert le projet Before & After de la journaliste Esther Honig. Je l'ai trouvé vraiment très intéressant et ai eu envie de m'y essayer.

With her Before & After project the journalist Esther Honig wanted to show how cultural difference influences our beauty standards. She contacted 40 people from more than 25 different countries and asked them to retouch a picture of herself with for only instruction to make her beautiful. You can discover her project here.

Dans son projet Before & After la journaliste Esther Honig a voulu montrer comment les différences culturelles influencent nos standards de beauté. Elle a contacté 40 personnes dans plus de 25 pays et leur a demandé de retroucher une photo d'elle avec pour seule consigne de la rendre belle. Vous pouvez découvrir son projet ici.

From the very beginning I have been very interested in this project so when one of the artists group I belong to decided to give it a try and see what we could come up with I jumped at the opportunity!

I decided to transform her to fit what I think represent the stereotypical Parisian beauty. Light make up, perfect hair, a dash of freckles and of course the compulsory stripped marinière shirt.

Dès le début j'ai eu un vif intérêt pour ce projet alors quand un des groupes d'artistes auxquels j’appartiens à proposé de s'y essayer pour voir à quel résultat chacun de nous parviendrai, j'ai sauté sur l'occasion!
J'ai décidé de la transformer afin qu'elle représente ce que je considère être le stéréotype de beauté de la Parisienne. Un maquillage léger, un brushing parfait, une pincée de tâches de rousseur et bien sûr l'indispensable marinière.

I am completly aware that the hair and the arm are not so great but we had a deadline and I was fed up haha.

Je suis tout à fait consciente que les cheveux et le bras ne sont pas terribles mais il y avait une deadline et j'en avais un peu marre.
